Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Since the publication of “Equipping our teachers for the future”, it is an explicit requirement that all teachers in the post-16 Education and Training sector should be able to use a range of technology to support learning, so it is particularly important that initial teacher training develops these skills in course members. 

To do this:-

• the course must model an effective blend of e-learning throughout
• the course team must have a thorough understanding of the pedagogy of e-learning
• the course content must develop course members skills and understanding

East Midlands RSC supports ITT by a range of methods including:-

• curriculum reviews (View Information Sheet)
• observation training
• running events and working with the EMFEC ITT network

RSC Advisors across the UK have developed a web-resource in the form of a blog to share expertise and knowledge for teacher educators, new teachers, mentors and relevant managers.

We work closely with the East Midlands Centre of Excellence for Teacher Training (EMCETT) and the Teacher Training forum organised by EMFEC.
