Technology can make a major contribution to achieving the strategic objectives of a Learning and Skills provider – but only when strategic managers have a vision for what it can do. 

New and emerging technology can improve the quality of teaching and learning, increase enrolments, raise retention, achievement and success rates, as well as enhancing the learner’s experience.  It can strengthen the business operation of the organisation.

RSC East Midlands supports senior managers by:

• advice and guidance to identify key areas where technology can improve existing practices
• supporting the development of an ILT strategy where appropriate and its relationship with other organisational strategies such as teaching and learning, staff development
• a range of review tools to enable strategic managers to establish the current position and plan for development.

These review tools include:

• e-Progress Reviews to establish the present use of technology within the learning provider
• technical infrastructure Health Check
• accessibility review to audit current practice and planning
• Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) review
• questionnaires to establish learner experience of technology within the organisation

We can also advise learning provider Corporations and Governing Bodies on the strategic role of new and emerging technology through input to Governor/Corporation meetings and other activities.
