Learning Technologies Support

As technology continues to develop at a break-neck pace, it can be difficult to keep track of where things have got to and to understand how new developments can help in innovating and supporting education.

More importantly it can be a challenge to identify equipment and software that will both meet your needs and provide the greatest impact from your investment.

The Regional Support Centre can help you meet this challenge. We track the latest technological developments, both in education and the world beyond and keep a watchful eye on where things may be going next. For example this could be e-Portfolios or embedding a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Through regularly trying out emerging technologies (hardware, software, services), speaking to learning providers who are using them in anger and utilising our extensive networks within the East Midlands and across the UK, we are in a position to advise on which technologies are bringing real benefits to post-16 education.

We can provide support in a range of ways, including:

• Through short consultations, in which we explore what you need to achieve, then offer advice on possible technology-supported solutions
• Through our programme of training workshops and regional forums
• Via our mailing lists and other communication channels

The advice we offer can be strategic and organisation-wide or in the form of more practical quick fixes for individual teams or departments.
