The RSC has several different ways of communicating with colleagues in the post-16 education and training sector. This is so that we can:
You're already using one of our main communication tools our website, but here's some information on what else we use.
Email
Regional Forums & User Groups
JISC mailing lists
Moodle
RSC Newsletter
Case studies
We carried out a survey of the different communication methods used by staff in learning providers in our sector in late 2009 and their experiences of RSC communications. The results are available to view here.
We use email as a way of keeping our contacts up-to-date with relevant news, information and events. We try to keep the amount of emails to a minimum by targeting them to spcecific audiences making sure that the message gets to the right people.
If you want to be added to our contact lists then subscribe here.
The RSC facilitates a series of these in the region as a way for people to share ideas with peers, build links to colleagues with similar roles in other providers, explore issues of common concern, keep up-to-date with developments in the field, and draw on the knowledge and expertise of the network.
Find out more and view a current list on our forums and user groups.
Most of these forums/user groups have a dedicated email distribution list to support them.
We facilitate a series of email mailing lists in the region in order to encourage knowledge sharing within the academic community.
These mailing lists are a good way to pose questions and get feedback from colleagues in other learning providers. RSC advisors will also send news, e-bulletins, resources and requests to the lists.
More details of about the JISCmail lists.
There are various courses on our Moodle, a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), as starting points to find out more about various e-learning related topics.
Our learning platform is also the place to find resources relating to the different events that we run and the forums that we facilitate. For some projects that we facilitate we use the forum function within Moodle as a communication tool.
The RSC East Midlands newsletter is called "intouch" and is produced three times a year at the beginning of each academic term. It offers a mixture of news and features, and is available in both hard copy and electronic formats.
We produce case studies of best practice in e-learning from learning providers across our region. The case studies are published on the Excellence Gateway website – a one stop portal for advice, resources, news, teaching & learning materials and case studies for practitioners at all levels in the post-16 education and training sector.
